Andrew and Nicolina continue their conversation around the craft of photography. They go into Journalism photography and how things like social media and Photoshop have changed photography in a modern age. They discuss photographers that have influenced Nicolina's work and another one of her projects called The Glass Ceiling. This leads them to bring up the treatment of women in the photography world.

Jerry Uelsmann


An American photographer and was an early exponent of photomontage in the 20th century in America. His work in darkroom effects foreshadowed the use of Adobe Photoshop to make surrealistic images in the late 20th century.





Photomontage is the process and the result of making a composite photograph by cutting, gluing, rearranging and overlapping two or more photographs into a new image.

Edward Weston


was a 20th-century American photographer and has been called "one of the most innovative and influential American photographers and "one of the masters of 20th century photography. Over the course of his 40-year career Weston photographed an increasingly expansive set of subjects, including landscapes, still lives, nudes, portraits, genre scenes and even whimsical parodies. It is said that he developed a "quintessentially American, and especially Californian, approach to modern photography because of his focus on the people and places of the American West.


Richard Avedon


was an American fashion and portrait photographer. He worked for Harper's Bazaar and Vogue, specializing in capturing movement in still pictures of fashion, theater and dance. An obituary published in The New York Times said that "his fashion and portrait photographs helped define America's image of style, beauty and culture for the last half-century".



Annie leibovitz


is an American portrait photographer. She is best known for her engaging portraits, particularly of celebrities, which often feature subjects in intimate settings and poses. Leibovitz's polaroid of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, taken five hours before Lennon's murder, is considered Rolling Stone magazine's most famous cover photograph.








Glass Ceiling Series


This series addresses the glass ceiling that affects many women. It touches upon the resulting social isolation, anxiety and loneliness.
